Disposable Respirators
Overview of Disposable Respirators
What are disposable respirators?
Disposable respirators are the general industry term for face masks containing filter material to block airborne particles from passing through. These masks are designed to be thrown away after use. Disposable Respirators protect workers from inhaling particles created during grinding, crushing, drilling, sanding, mixing and cleaning operations.
In North America, the National Institute for Occopucation Safety and Health (NIOSH) approves disposable respirators and they are rated N95, N99 and N100 according to their filtration capability. The N95 is by far the most popular disposable respirator for use in the United States.
Europe and other parts of the world have other approvals, the most common being the CE marking. CE masks have similar qualities to N95 Masks.
